# Google Gemini

Google supports Major League Hacking and the Hack Days program with AI tools that help hackers move quickly from an idea to a working prototype. For this category, focus participant guidance on Google AI Studio and the Gemini API.

## Best Use of Gemini API

It’s time to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI using Google Gemini. Check out the Gemini API to build AI-powered apps that make your friends say WHOA. So, what can Gemini do for your hackathon project?

* Understand language like a human and build a chatbot that gives personalized advice
* Analyze info like a supercomputer and create an app that summarizes complex research papers
* Generate creative content like code, scripts, music, and more

## Participant Resources

Google offers tools including [Google AI Studio](https://aistudio.google.com/) and the [Gemini API documentation](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs). MLH cannot provide usage credits for Gemini models, so share the current free and low-cost options included in your onboarding resources before the event.

## Opening Ceremony

Use the [Google Gemini opening ceremony deck](https://mlh.link/hackdays-gemini-slides). Remove any example category that was not assigned to your event.

## Judging Evidence

Confirm that the winning project actually uses the Gemini API in the app. Ask the team to show the integration in its code, README, or demonstration.

## Expected Prize

Prizes vary by region and available inventory. Depending on the event, the winning team may receive a Google-branded swag bag, a mechanical keyboard, or a digital gift card. Swag bags may include a branded bag, notebook, and other items. Check your event's onboarding materials before sharing prize details with participants.
